The Zero Waste Project

A cutting-edge approach to sustainable design.

Timo Rissanen, assistant professor of Fashion Design and Sustainability at Parsons The New School for Design and expert in Zero Waste fashion, developed the course in which students learned the intricacies of this approach to sustainability. Loomstate's Scott Mackinlay-Hahn and Rogan Gregory served as mentors on the project, educating students about issues such as sourcing, dyeing, finishing, and energy consumption of organic denim. They continued to guide Andria Crescioni, now a Parsons graduate, in the manufacturing of the garment from development through production.

The result is a timeless limited edition zero-waste anorak - and proof that zero waste could be the future of sustainable design.

This project was developed in 2011 and the product is now sold out. See the entire Zero Waste Project from start to finish at the Loomstate Blog.
